Before you can pick life winning strategies, you must first answer what your definition of winning in life might be.
How do you define winning in life?
Is it about having as much money to spend as you want?
Is it about having fleets of cars?
Maybe you rather see it as being a responsible father, mother, and spouse?
Perhaps by making things right in all aspects of your life, you feel like a winner?
Or maybe you would go with all of the options above and even more.
Winning in life means you’re living your dream life, succeeding at your set goals and being happy with where you finally wind up.
Whether it is being a multimillionaire or becoming your own boss and being able to lead your dream life.
Whatever it may be, as long as that’s your dream and you’re happy, or you feel fulfilled, and you aspire to achieve more, then, you’re winning.
Why is it important for you to win in life? And why do you need life winning strategies to help you do that?
Truth be told, you cannot afford to dabble through life or go with whatever options life hands you.
You must be ready to fight your way through, creating for yourself the life you could look back on and be proud of.
Believe me; victory tastes sweet; the more your wins in life, the more you boost your confidence to do more and eventually, losing becomes no option at all.
How do you get on track with the winning team? And what life strategies do you have in life?
Most people go through life with a set routine; terrified of change, they experience nothing new in their life.
They live with the same old way of approaching issues. Not too many life strategies there.
Some people wait for luck or coincidence to happen for them. What kind of strategy is that?
Miracles are happening all around, but they are not a result of coincidence or luck. They are instead a divine intervention from one who is Supreme.
My view, I know!
Yes, you might not agree with me.
But the truth is you have to start viewing life as a daily opportunity to win, you don’t have to wait for things to happen for you, but you have to always work towards bringing your dreams to reality.
Even miracles require you to be at the right place and at the right time.
So you have a role to play in all these, and that requires you to learn from those that have gone before you, carefully observing their “how to” life strategies.
If you want to win in life, you have to show up and take meaningful action just like you’re doing now by reading this post.
Below are 3 effective life winning strategies.
1. Playing to win is a great life strategy
A friend of mine was helping me learn how to play the game- Chess. He was a pro, and whenever we had a chance to play, I always carried the mindset that I couldn’t beat him in the game.
I just played to while away time, and I always ended up losing to him, it didn’t feel good losing all the time. Who likes that, right?
The problem? I couldn’t override the mindset that I could never beat him.
One day I had enough and determined to do my best, even if I wouldn’t win.
I was ready to give it my best. I observed carefully and was sure not to make any wrong moves, when he saw how I played, he asked: “what happened to you?”
“I just stepped up my game,” was my response.”
One key thing here? I observed most people can turn life around the day they feel they’ve had enough. The day they are no longer going to accept failure as final.
Although he still had a win, I saw for the first time that I could do better, I could beat him; I could checkmate him.
It all depended on my determination and a different mindset or perspective to make it happen.
Yes, I changed my mindset, but it still wasn’t right, I stepped up from just playing for fun to playing not to lose, and that’s the mistake a lot of us make.
I figured out that playing not to lose could mean being satisfied with a tie. Hmmm….that doesn’t equal winning.
so the question is:
How many times have you played away your opportunities to win?
How often has your mindset of “I can’t” held you back from reaching your potential?
If your life was a chess game right now, are you playing to win or are you playing not to lose?
“The difference between playing to win and playing not to lose is often the difference between success and mediocrity.”
The attitude of your approach determines whether you win or lose in life.
“Attitude is also the difference between a gold medal winner and a silver medal winner.”
So, whatever you do, approach it with a mindset to win and not one of simply not to lose.
The essence of life winning strategies is knowing what not to do.
That, to me, is the attitude of a winner.
2. Risk taking risks
“Take a risk and let what happens happen.”
Most people never risk taking risks, they try their best to avoid suffering and pain, but these people never learn, feel, change, grow, love, or live their lives to the fullest.
It is only those who take risks that are genuinely free.
You might be asking, free from what exactly?
Free from fear of the known and the unknown, free from doubt and all the anxiety it brings.
Those who prefer to play it safe never know the thrill of victory. This can’t be part of your life winning strategies portfolio!
They never get to taste the sweetness of risk that brings success.
To be a winner, you must first risk being a failure, you must be willing to accept possible loss.
Those who win in life are always ready to make the necessary sacrifices and risks to get to the top and to achieve their dream goal.
If you really want to join the winning team, you have to be ready and willing to stick your neck out and make commitments that may cost you something.
3. Life winning strategies involve keeping on improving
Winners are never tired of improving; they do not grow complacent in their quest to learn more.
Most people, once they make some wins, tend to be okay with that new level of achievements they have attained, and that is a huge mistake.
Improving yourself doesn’t mean you compete with anybody, it doesn’t mean you are comparing yourself to someone else or trying to be better than them.
It doesn’t mean you are not grateful for other wins in your life; in fact, being thankful is one attribute of winners.
Improving yourself means you are continually putting yourself up for challenges, and that is an excellent way to grow.
Keep your motives in mind. Try asking yourself why am I trying to improve?
Is it to receive an appraisal from people? If so, then that probably won’t work out well for you.
Instead, strive to improve to become the best version of yourself, to become better than who you were yesterday.
That is the ultimate goal of life.
“Winning is not a sometime thing; it’s an all time thing. You don’t win once in a while, you don’t do things right once in a while, you do them right all the time. Winning is a habit. Unfortunately, so is losing.” – Vince Lombardi
Want to win everyday in life? Well it all boils down to one thing:
Play the game of life to win.
